Strat Plan Day

Feel good year is best served with a strategy. Call me paranoid, worrywart and OC but I can’t stand not having a plan. I like the process and the discussion surrounding it. So today, I conducted a planning session for work and family.

Strat Plan Highlights/Lowlights:
1. iPad is the best tool EVER.
2. Next Steps total number of items is 16 where only 5 were assigned to my direct reports. There’s something wrong with this picture.
3. Two heads are better than four, especially if 2 of the 4 are foreigners.
4. Finally found a way to pay off credit card bill.
5. The first three-four months of the year is going to be tough both at work and family financials.
6. My hubby is the best.

If there’s a list of things I learned in 2011…

…it would be this.

1. There really is no easy way to say goodbye, so don’t. There’s always time to hang out with old officemates.
2. Bosses do make the difference when it comes to deciding whether one is going to leave a company.
3. Do resign after all bonuses have been credited. It makes calculating your last pay a lot easier.
4. Visualize a goal detailed enough that you can smell it.
5. Have a go at your goal as soon as day 1. It’s the only way you can make things happen.
6. New bosses suck donkey balls. BUT people and perceptions change.
7. Crying IS a sign of weakness. Never ever show weakness to a new boss. He/she will eat you alive.
8. Being a boss to a set of new direct reports sucks donkey balls.
9. People under you are not going to change if you don’t work at it WITH them.
10. Expectation is to disappointment as milk is to shit for a lactose intolerant.
11. Even the bestest of friends can piss each other off without the other one knowing it. But it’s OK because relationships are supposed to be shitty sometimes.
12. Don’t take ‘taking-for-granted’ for granted.
13. There are fake friends, friends for show, occasional friends and then there’s family — the ones who truly care.
14. Parents should make a big deal out of holidays that are children-oriented. Brings out the child in you and your child will think you’re the coolest set of parental units in the whole universe.
15. Children sure do grow up fast.
16. Travel more, live more. It doesn’t have to be out of the country. Seeing what’s on the other street is good enough.
17. Foreigners are a pain but you’re a foreigner to someone too so be cool and embrace the difference.
18. Change is a bitch but it’s what makes the world go round. And love too.
19. Never get tired of saying i-love-you.
20. Take care of your health. When the body gets pissed, it really gets bitchy.

Self-talking may be dangerous to your health
